It is a tradition that every Chinese New Year celebration, one must have tikoy served together during New Year dinners. This tikoy, or Nian Gao, symbolizes prosperity, luck and most of all togetherness as well as solidarity as one family. Togetherness and solidarity, the reason being is that Tikoy is a sticky rice cake serve as a dessert. One must have a share of tikoy in order to make this new year celebration complete. Tikoy is also given as a gift to people who we would like to share our blessing, luck and togetherness, whether it be friends, family or business associates.Tikoy is best served fried after dipping it in an egg bater.
