Avilon Zoo: Celebrating Life

Avilon Zoo is the largest zoological park here in the Philippines. It is located at Brgy. San Isidro, Rodriguez (formerly Montalban) in the province of Rizal. It takes about an hour to go to Avilon from Marikina City. It is a 7.5 hectare land that houses different kinds of animals from reptiles to amphibians to mammals.

The zoo experience itself is magnificent. The landscape, lay-out and design of the zoo is nice as well. I never really expect to have this kind of zoo here in the Philippines but Avilon astounded me. They house a lot of animals too, from arachnids to the big cats, birds of prey, farm animals, different kinds of birds, lizards and snakes. They have small mammals too: squirrels, skunks, mice, gerbils and etc.

I even had a first-hand experience in feeding the cuckatoo with sunflower seeds. The bird is quite still, quite and very friendly. It doesn't react whenever people tries to pat and touch its feathers. It is quite amuzing to see the bird peeling off the hard shell of the seed.
It met my expectations, in fact, it exceeded what I expected to see in a zoo here in the Philippines.

Nicely explained... I've been thinking of taking my son to Avilon zoo too - when it's not raining so much anymore. Thanks for sharing!
